21/08/13Accelerate Cape Town AGM hosts Derek Hanekom and senior regional leadership
Derek Hanekom, the National Minister of Science of Technology, was the keynote speaker at Accelerate Cape Town’s Annual General Meeting on 20 August 2013. As always, the AGM was attended by the senior business leadership of the Cape Town city region, as well as other key stakeholders from both the public and the private sectors.
Hanekom provided insight into a number of programmes being run by the Department of Science and Technology, and ended with a strong call to business to assist in the aim of raising expenditure on Research and Development to 1.5% of GDP by 2022.

The AGM marked the end of the tenure of Chairman of the Board, Jock McKenzie. McKenzie wished Accelerate Cape Town well, and thanked the AGM sponsors, Old Mutual, Nedbank and Distell.
